Bobby Blankenship Obituary

Mr. Bobby Joe Blankenship of Rome passed away quietly at his residence on Monday November 9, 2015 and saw Jesus for the first time.

Bobby Joe was born in Rome on July 7, 1938 to the late Clarence Lloyd Blankenship and Ruby Joe Flemister. His Sister Ann Blankenship Barron preceded him in death in 2011.

He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and had been a Deacon at Trinity Baptist in North Rome.

Bobby Joe was a 1956 Graduate of Model High School and loved sports. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and he remained active after military life for some 35 years Officiating High School Football with the NWGFOA. During this time he worked almost 30 years as an Allstate Insurance Agent and later worked for Riverside Chevrolet.

Bobby Joe's treasures were his three surviving sons, Duncan (Dunny) Blankenship and his wife Tina, Joseph (Levi) Blankenship and his wife Nereida, and Robert (Rob) Blankenship and his wife Kathy, all of Rome.

Bobby Joe was married to his grade- school sweetheart Jimmie Ann Womack on March 19, 2013.

Jimmie Ann also had 3 sons who loved Bobby Joe. Charlie Womack and his wife Teresa., as well as Todd and Shane Womack.

Bobby Joe leaves behind a loving brother and two sisters who he helped raise because his father passed away at a young age. Jerry Blankenship and his wife Harlene, Dixie Firestone and her husband James Bo Firestone, and Clarice Howard and her husband Larry.

He also had 7 grandchildren, J.J., Paeyton, Trent, Katy, Dalton, Duncan, and Aspen Blankenship as well as Brooke and Molli Womack. He also had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be made to The American Cancer Society, or The Model and Johnson Schools Foundation P.O. Box 1264, Rome, GA. 30162 .

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday November 15, 2015 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Randy Lambert, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until the hour of the service on Sunday, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Shanklin-Attwaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion will conduct full military honors, Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66 F&AM will conduct Masonic Honors.
