Cade McLeod Obituary

Cade McLeod, 94, formerly of Rome, passed away Friday, April 8, at Gwinnett Extended Care Center in Lawrenceville.
Cade was born March 8, 1922, in Cedartown, the daughter of Henry Melvin Huskey and Bessie Weaver Huskey. She had very fond memories of growing up there, setting up a table on Saturdays for rummage sales and accompanying her father to his downtown restaurant and perching on the stools at the counter.
When her father died in 1937, she, her mother, and her younger sister moved to Rome. She graduated from Girls High School in 1939. In 1941 she married Hoyt Smith and moved to Atlanta. Following his death in 1949, she married Frank McLeod, Jr. of Rome in 1950, who predeceased her in 1998.
She worked almost continuously from her teenage years until her retirement in 1980 from Trust Company of Georgia where she was in the Commercial Finance Department. In Rome she had worked at Atlanta Gas Light Company, Harvey-Given Realty, and the City of Rome in the water department.
In her younger years she was an accomplished bowler; she and her first husband won the Atlanta Journal-Constitution couples' duckpin tournament trophy. She enjoyed her membership in Skylarks travel club and visited Mexico twice, the Holy Land, and the northeastern United States.
She is survived by her three daughters Elaine Ricks (John) of Cochran, Gwen Mayenschein (Bob) of Lawrenceville, and Susan McLeod (Tom Gondesen) of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Anne Ricks Lampton, Addison Ricks, Todd Harkleroad, and Matthew and Mitchell Mayenschein; great-grandchildren Amy and Maggie Lampton, Chandler and Gavin Harkleroad; sister Elaine Ferguson; niece Weaver Silvertooth and nephew Charles Howell.
