Carla Jean Rayburn Lackey, age 57, of Rome passed away Saturday December 19, 2015 in a local hospital.
Carla was born May 19, 1958 in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Howard T. Rayburn. She was a graduated from Coosa High School excelling in Basketball resulting in a team State Championship. Carla had many friends and loved everyone. To know Carla was to love her. She was preceded in death by brother, Dennis Rayburn.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Joseph Newman, sons, Colby (Jenna) Lackey, Collin ( Paula) Lackey, grandchildren, Jolianne and Jasper Lackey, mother, Mae Rayburn, sisters, Marsha Rayburn, Donna (Blanton) Bagley, Mary (Sam) Parker, brothers, Michael (Vickye) Rayburn, Mark Rayburn, grandmother, Rosa Rayburn, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday December 22, 2015, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Brian Crisp, officiating, eulogy will be given by Johnny Peoples. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, Dax Bagley, Donavan Bagley, Samuel Parker, Tommy Parker, and Jesse Nicholson.
