Charles Bradfield Obituary
Charles Lonnie John Bradfield, age 80, of Rome passed away Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014 in a local health care center.
Lonnie loved working on lawnmowers, and could make one run when no one else could. He enjoyed coloring with his nephew Jamie and nieces Stephanie and Jennifer when they were little. Lonnie loved putting together puzzles . He had a great deal of patience and would continue to work long after everyone else had given up. Always a ladies man, Lonnie loved to flirt and had many girlfriends at Winthrop manor, many of whom he would ask to marry him. Even though Lonnie was childlike, he had a great deal more insight than one would think. More than anything else he loved the Lord. He could talk about Jesus all day and sing the old gospel songs, knowing all the words. He grew up in the Baptist faith. When the Bible speaks of the meek inheriting the Earth, we believe God was referring to someone like Lonnie. He never met a stranger and all that met him were his new found friends. He will be missed by many.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Mary Lou Tippens Bradfield, two brothers Bobby and Joe Lee Bradfield, and two sisters Margaret and Virginia Bradfield. Lonnie was also preceded in death by a host of brothers and sisters named Tucker whose first names all started with the letter "G".
Lonnie is survived by one brother and sister in law James and Annell Bradfield of Rome; three sisters Genette Swinford, Genoka and Eddie McSwain of Rome and Gevelma and Jay Parker of Warm Springs, GA. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and special friends Barbara and Nelson Llorens of Brooklyn, NY.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Mr. J. Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2:30 at the funeral home.The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and should meet at 2:15 Saturday. Jamie Bradfield, Joe Bradfield, Bob Bradfield, Bill Bradfield, Aaron Daigle and Gregorio Cruz.
The family would like to thank the staff at Winthrop for taking such good care of him for the past nine years.
