Charlotte M. Segars
Charlotte M. Segars, age 81, of Rome and formerly of Young Harris and Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in a Rome Medical Center.
A native of Polk County, Mrs. Segars was born October 10, 1934 daughter of the late Clark and Ellen Edge Shaw. She was always concerned about improving her life, was unique, strong willed, and hardworking. A lover of people, she and her husband owned and operated restaurants and motels in Young Harris and Murphy North Carolina. Her motto was "It's not what you make, it's what you save!"Mrs. Segars was a member of the Old Brasstown Baptist Church and attended Wesley Chapel here in Rome. Mrs. Segars loved her family, especially her great grandchildren, and was preceded in death by her husband Tom Segars June 7, 2002, a son Tommy Segars, and sister Frankie Jean Rodgers.
Survivors include her children Anthony (Mary) Segars of Centre, AL; Rick (Betty) Harris of Rome; Robert (Mary) Segars of Newport News VA; Reba (Jerle) Lockaby of Silver Creek, and Natalie Warman of Ava, MO. Brothers Jimmy Shaw of Douglasville and Marlin(Pat) Shaw of Murrell's Inlet, SC, sister Barbara (Billy) Smith of Rome. Grandchildren Dana Latasa, Jill Dixon, Brad, Eric, and Joey Harris, Rusty and Bobby Segars, Josh Warman, Joni Wilson, Tina Hayes, and Tommy Johnston. Ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, April 17 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue Rome with Reverends Randy Jiles and Ricky Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4 until 6 PM at the funeral home.
