Deborah Monteith Obituary

Debora Roxanne Baker Monteith, age 59, of Armuchee, passed away Friday January 9, 2015at her residence.

Debora was born August 27, 1955 in Floyd County. She was a daughter of George Myron Baker and the late Rosanell Ozmnet Baker. Debora was a member of Shorter Avenue Baptist Church.

Above all, my Momma loved her family. She fiercely and faithfully protected those she cared about. Me, Abby,-her Honey Bun, miracle baby, and personal living proof of the power of blind faith in The Lord. Her husband, Ronnie-who shared a love with her that was pure and beyond comparison. Her father, George Myron-who, like her, is stubborn but selfless. Her brother, Tommy-who she raised and shaped into the person he is today. And her mother, Rosanell-her best friend and, I am sure, the head of her welcoming committee at the gates of Heaven. To our family, she was the glue-the missing puzzle piece that held everything together. Her life was beautiful and she lived it well.

Cancer eventually caused my mother's health to decline but it never by any means defined her. She was determined to never be controlled by her illness. Instead, she spent her last days with those she loved, doing what she loved. Working at craft shows alongside her father. Willing the Model Blue Devils basketball teams to win. Cross-stitching in her chair in the living room. Standing and cheering at my college graduation. Loving her husband fully and completely.

She loved The Lord with all her heart, and I am beyond excited for her that she gets to now walk hand-in-hand with her earthly mother and her heavenly father. I am forever grateful that God gave me Debora Roxanne Baker Monteith to be my mother. She gave me more love in 22 years than most people receive in a lifetime. My greatest accomplishment is being her daughter.

A life like hers deserves to be celebrated. You are my sunshine and I love you more. Always. Always.
