Dwight D. Murdock, age 72 of Rome passed away Thursday morning at his residence.
A native of Rome, Mr. Murdock was born February 8, 1944 son of the late Griffin Murdock and Mildred Smith Murdock. He had been a resident of Rome his entire life and was employed with Fafnir Ball Bearings before retirement. Despite not having children, Mr. Murdock had a large group of adopted "kids", both related and non related.He loved to fish and eat the rewards.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Watkins Murdock; brother Reverend Billy Murdock; sister Charlotte Potts; several nieces and nephews, and special friends JoAnn and Tommy Eads.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Monday in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Raburn officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin Attaway Post 5 American Legion Honor Guard furnishing Military Honors. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 PM until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen: Tommy Watkins, Justin Watkins, Grant Gilreath, Marshall Greene, Benny Sprayberry, and Scott Casey. Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Stanley and Tommy Eads.
