Eddie Garrett Obituary
Eddie Lamar Garrett, age 69, of Alabama Highway, passed away Monday April 20, 2015 in a Rome Medical Center.
A native of Rome and Floyd County Mr. Garrett was born June 20, 1945, to the late Jesse V. and Dora Oakes Garrett. He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County all his life. Mr. Garrett was an active member Blue Pond Baptist Church, for 38 years . He was a retired member of Labors Local 752. Mr. Garrett was a loving and devoted husband, daddy, and paw-paw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse V. Garrett, and Dora Oakes Garrett, son, Eddie Garrett, Jr. brother, Jimmy Garrett, a sister, Linda Herod.
Survivors include his wife, Linda A. Lindsey Garrett, to whom he was married for 41 years, sons, Willie Garrett, Lamar Garrett, and David Garrett, daughters, Beth Allen, and Annie Godfrey, and their spouses, brother, Gerald Garrett, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Garrett will be held on Thursday April 23, 2015 at Blue Pond Baptist Church, with Bro. Horace Humphrey, and Bro Jerry Cowart, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday April 22, 2015, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Mr. Garrett will lie instate at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the church by 1:30 p.m. D.C. Cox, Gerald Kerr, Bubba Holbrooks, Roy Dutton, Sam Tyler, and brother in law, Jimmy Lindsey.
Honorary pallbearers include his grandsons, Josh Allen, and Brendan Godfrey.
