Emma Harwell Obituary

Emma Conn Harwell, age 91, of West Rome passed away Sunday morning, June 14, 2015 in a local hospital.



Mrs. Harwell was born May 5, 1924 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Ruby Holbrook Conn and Joseph William Conn, Sr. Along with her family and her late husband Jack Dempsey Harwell, Sr. she operated Conn's Supermarket and Bakery on Shorter Avenue until it was destroyed by fire. Before Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts were household words, it was a well known fact that Conn's was the only place in Rome to get a great donut. She later worked for Golden Gallon Convenience Stores. Mrs. Harwell was a member of the West Rome Baptist Church.



Survivors include her children Jack Dempsey Harwell Jr and John Steven Harwell both of Rome: Alan Conn Harwell of Cumming, and Judith Louise Harwell of Panama City, FL. Brother Joseph William Conn Jr of Dallas TX , and sister Joyce Ellington Conn of Atlanta. Daughter in law Joan Harwell of Rome. Grandchildren Angela Harwell, Robin Dunn, Erin Cape, Jack Harwell III, Julie Pirkle, Stephanie Pirkle, Charity Lowery, John Harwell, Candace Smith, Israel Cutchins, and Caleb Cutchins. Great grandchildren Cody Crider, Israel Terry, River Dunn, Brooklyn Dunn, Hudson Walker, Sydney Walker, Kennedy Cape, Farryn Cape, Ali Pirkle, Riley Pirkle, Emma Pirkle, and Cason Pirkle. Whitney Lowery, Lindsay Lowery, Makinley Lowery, Issac Harwell, Owen Harwell, Presley Smith, Emma Maybree Smith, Joshua Cutchins, and Noah Alan Cutchins. Great great grandchildren Braxton Crider, Adelyn Crider, Haddox Crider, and Kaceson Crider also survive.



Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Glenn Clonts officiating.
