Mrs. Evelyn Louise Hollingsworth Dixon, age 81 of Rome passed away Tuesday December 13, 2016.
Mrs. Dixon was born March 22, 1935 in Floyd County a daughter of the late Ernest and Napper Mae Hollingsworth. Mrs. Dixon grew up in the Shannon Community and graduated from Model High School. She attended Shannon United Methodist Church where she was active in their UMW group and was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Dixon was retired from Rome City Schools-School Nutrition and worked many years at Champion Garments, and Kroger. She loved her family dearly, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Perfect in every way to her, she was excited about the new great grandbaby, Allysa, due in January. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Dixon to whom she was married on July 3, 1954, son, Steve Dixon, her siblings, Willie Mae Leonard, Shirley Fricks, Melvin Hollingsworth, and Carol Justice.
Survivors include her sons and daughters in law, Larry and Allyson Dixon; Greg Dixon; daughter in law, Anna Dixon; grandchildren, Joseph (Ryan) Dixon, Stephanie ( Chris) Fowler, Jaclyn (Andy) Allen, Brittany (Pete) Webster, Holly (Chris) Kinsey, Zach (Danielle) Dixon, Haley (John) Abernathy, great grandchildren, Jaina, Brice, Jacen, Kaitlyn, Jackson, Lexi, Isabelle, and Elaina, sister, Edna (Harold) Rice, several brothers in law, and sisters in law, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday December 15, 2016 at Dykes Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Mikel Garrett, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Thursday at Dykes Creek Baptist Church, 46 Dykes Creek Road, Rome, Ga. 30161.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
Pallbearers include her grandsons, Joseph Dixon, Zach Dixon, Chris Fowler, Andy Allen, Pete Webster, Chris Kinsey, Brice Fowler, and Jacen Dixon.
