Houston Touchtone Obituary
Mr. Houston Walter Touchstone, age 89 of Armuchee passed away Sunday October 19, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Touchstone was born June 3, 1925 in Floyd County, a son of the late James L."Fay" Touchstone, and Pearl Barton Touchstone. He lived his first 59 years in Everett Springs and his last 30 years in Floyd Springs. Mr. Touchstone was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM. Mr. Touchstone along with his brothers owned and operated Touchstone General Store. He was also a chicken and cattle farmer and an avid gardener. Mr. Touchstone retired from General Electric in 1988 after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Hazel Holsonback Touchstone; daughter, Colleen Hope Touchstone; granddaughter, Kristy Plemons; brother, Weldon Touchstone; and a sister, Mary Beth Bridges.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Keith and Gayle Touchstone, Armuchee; a daughter and son in law, Karen and Kenneth Plemons, Aragon; grandchildren, Michael Plemons, Michelle (Jason) Sanders, Kelli (Cody) Hughes; great grandchildren, Brayden Plemons, Makayla Plemons, his twin brother, Howard Touchstone, Rome; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, with Dr. Wayne Hopper, Pastor Patrick Hopper, and Rev. Carl Alexander, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM conducting Masonic Graveside Rites. The family received friends on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
Mr. Touchstone will lie in state at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
A called communication of Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday (today) for the purpose of attending the funeral of Mr. Houston Walter Touchstone.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the church by 2:30 p.m. today, Kent Bridges, Randall Touchstone, Larry Touchstone, J. W. Bridges, Kenneth Mosley, and Leonard Buffington.
