Janice Christine Matula
Janice Christine Matula, age 75, of Rome, the Armuchee community, died Monday morning, October 10, 2016 at her residence.
A native of Forsyth County, GA Mrs. Matula was born January 9, 1941 daughter of the late Clay and Addie Reynolds Bennett. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and was retired from Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital. Mrs. Matula was a member of the Armuchee Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her first husband Grady Franklin Dacus, former Chief of Police of Buford, GA, who was killed in the line of duty March 23, 1968 and by her second husband Nicholas Armando Matula, Jr October 23, 2011.
Survivors include her daughter Robin (David) Medeiros of Rome and Carla (Shane) Greene of Marietta:
a granddaughter Chrissy Medeiros; a brother Herbert Bennett and sisters Martha Bennett and Lynn Bennett Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Armuchee Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Murdock and Reverend Glenn Clonts officiating. Interment will follow at 10:30 Friday at the Georgia National Cemetery near Canton. The family will receive friends From 1 PM until the service hour.
