The Lord called Jennie Caldwell Nelson, age 69, home on Thursday, September 18, 2014.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Nelson was born May 27, 1945 daughter of the late Annie Laura Davis Caldwell and William Griffin Caldwell. She spent her entire life in Rome and was a 1964 graduate of Model High School. Prior to becoming disabled in 1982, she was employed with Burlington Mills in Shannon for 18 years. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Rome Midway Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible, and watching the Braves. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Tom, George and John Caldwell.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters Monroe Caldwell, Marvin Caldwell, John Caldwell, Mary Jane Spiller and Jannie Beard of Rome and Martha Hicks of Ellersbie, Georgia. A host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nelson will be conducted at 4 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Mr. J. Parnick Jennings officiating and her niece Joy Pilcher delivering the eulogy. Interment services will be conducted at 9 A.M. Monday in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
