Juanita Fuller Obituary

Juanita Fox Wood Fuller, 90, completed her life's ministry on December 9. The daughter of W.D. "Shorty" and Mary Alice Helton Fox, Mrs. Fuller was born in Conasauga, TN, moving with the family to Rome during the Great Depression. After graduating from Rome Girl's High School, she married Rev. Gordon V. Wood, fulfilling her role as a pastor's wife with grace and dignity in Georgia, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Following the death of Rev. Wood, Mrs. Fuller began a career as a senior tax clerk at the Fulton County Office of the Tax Commissioner. She later married O.H. Fuller of Austell and retired to Rome. She was an active member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church, founding president of the Rome National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and a volunteer at Floyd Hospital, Harbin Clinic, and Floyd County Baptist Association.

A world traveler, Mrs. Fuller visited most of the United States and 16 foreign countries.

Mrs. Fuller was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, as well as sisters Virginia Richey and Katherine Simmons, two brothers, Billy and Fremont Fox, and grandson, Nathan Wood, Jr.

She is survived by a brother, Prentice Fox (Nancy), Aberdeen, NC, and leaves a lasting legacy of love and service to her children, Vicky Skelton (Bob), Rome, Tim Wood (Shirley), Gainesville, FL, Nathan Wood, Sr., Cave Spring. Mrs. Fuller is also survived by six grandchildren, Rob Skelton, Rome, Bret Skelton (Kelly), Decatur, Wendy Whitley (Jonathan), Rome, Dorothy Vance (Garland), Rome, Matt Skelton (Erica), Bothell, WA and Gordon Wood (Lisa), Arlington, VA.



Mrs. Fuller delighted in her 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, who were always thrilled to "go to Mimi's."

A memorial service for Mrs. Fuller will be held at Dykes Creek Baptist Church, Saturday, December 13, 11:00 a.m., Rev. Mikel Garrett and Rev. Bob Skelton officiating. The family will greet guests following the service.
