Mrs. Julia Virginia Redmon Lord, 90, of 48 Bay Dar Road NW, Rome, died August 2, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Lord was born in McMinn County, Etowah, TN May 12, 1926. She was the daughter of the late James E. Redmon and Hattie Mae Reynolds Redmon. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County most of her life and was a member of the New Vision Church. She worked at Kay-Townes Antenna and retired from Mondo Baking Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Lord April 12, 1961, father James E. Redmon March 23, 1969, mother Hattie Mae Redmon January 31, 1984, two sisters Helen Jane Redmon Findley July 5, 1993 and Martha Bell Spencer and a brother Charles Redmon. Mrs. Lord never forgot abirthday, anniversary, or special occasion and was known as the "Card Lady".
Survivors include two daughters Sara Delores Lord Rollins and her husband Clarence; Barbara Sue Lord Lewis and her husband Allen Lewis.Two sisters Hazel Taylor and Mildred Hogan, both of Armuchee; Eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and twenty great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Friday, August 5 in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Reverend Kim Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 Until 3 PM at the funeral home. Please visit our website www.goodshepherdfh.net to post tributes.
