Mrs. Katie Eran Cooley Spellman, age 88 of Rome passed away Thursday April 28, 2016 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Spellman was born March 21, 1928, in Brooklyn, MS. she was a daughter of the late William Cooley, and Bertha Singley Cooley. She was a member of Mt. Alto Baptist Church, and a avid golfer in her younger years. Mrs. Spellman was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Spellman, Sr. son Carl Spellman, Jr. sisters, Betty Mae Morley, and Lillian Bond.
Survivors include her sons, James (Joan) Spellman, Rome; Donnie (Lynda) Spellman, Center; grandsons, Jim & Kristin Spellman, Ben and Bryan Joseph Spellman, great granddaughter, Jamie Spellman, brother, Jack (Nell) Cooley, Hattisburg, Ms; sisters, Mary Ann Spellman, Wiggins, MS; Joyce Dubose, Hattisburg, Ms; brother in law, Sidney Spellman, Covington, VA; several nieces and nephews, special friends, Ruth Ann Barnes, and Pat Comer.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday May 1, 2016, at Mt. Alto Baptist Church, with Dr. Phil Patterson, and Rev. Gary Graves, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until the hour of the service on Sunday at the Mt. Alto Baptist Church, 1915 Huffaker Rd. Rome, Ga. 30165.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Alto Baptist, 1915 Huffaker Rd. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Pallbearers include following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the church by 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Judd Cooper, Mark Chapman, Kenneth Guice, Wayne Comer, Dewayne Comer, and Benny Smith.
