Lamar Gowan Obituary
Mr. Lamar Jackson Gowan, age 73, of Lindale passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Gowan was born October 18, 1943, son of the late William Gowan and Hazel Ann Tinch Gowan. Prior to retirement, Mr. Gowan was employed by the City of Rome Sanitation Department. He loved to sing, especially Gospel music. Mr. Gowan was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Paulette Gowan.
Survivors include his children Paula Hunter and her husband Greg; Darla Chambers and her husband Tim; three sons Mark, Robert, and Jimmy Gowan. Grandchildren Alicia Shelton and her husband Tim; Greg Hunter, Jr and his wife Dawn Marie, Kevin Hunter , Brittany Meadows and her husband Kyle, Leslie Dowdy and her husband Eric, Corey Dowdy and his wife Sherrie; Robert Gowan, Jr. Laura Beth Gowan, Jimmy Gowan, Jr. Jessy Gowan, and Kristy Thompson. Sister Tina Bunch. Twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday at the Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Donald Lindsey officiating.
