Lucille Patrick Obituary
Mrs. Lucille Hill Patrick, age 88, of Smyrna passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in a local health care facility.
Mrs. Patrick was born in Swainsboro, GA on October 5, 1926. She was the daughter of Bennett C. and Mattie Mae Waller Hall. After graduating from Swainsboro High School, she moved to Rome to attend Berry College. While at Berry she met Samuel Hill. They were married November 16, 1947. After graduating from Berry, she taught at several Floyd County schools including Midway and Alto Park. In the late 1950's she was the first teacher certified to teach special education in Floyd County. She and Samuel were members of the First Christian Church of Rome. They also owned Hill Truck and Tractor International Harvester Dealership on DeSoto Avenue until his death.
Following the death of Mr. Hill, Mrs. Patrick married James C. Patrick and moved to Smyrna in 1970. She became a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church and was an active member of The Keenagers and The Birthday Girls. Mrs. Patrick also enjoyed reading and traveling.
She has always loved her family and extended family unconditionally and was greatly loved and treasured in return. She was preceded in death by her parents Bennett and Mattie Mae Hall, her first husband Samuel Hill, her second husband James C. Patrick, brothers J. Battle Hall, Bennett "Dan" Hall, and Leon Hall and sisters Mary Stephens and Sara Payne.
Survivors include her daughter Sylvia (Alman) Garrett of Silver Creek;, Mark Patrick of Smyrna, and Alicia (David Lubers of Kennesaw; Grandchildren Lucy (Paul) Grady of Lindale, Rachel, Daniel, and Andrew Lubbers of Kennesaw; Great grandchildren Sam Moland, Sophia Grady, Sylvia James Grady, Tatum Grady, Karli Grady, and Kyrie Riggs. She is also survived by her long time friends Paul and Gerrell Smith. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Patrick will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 3130 Atlanta Road, Smyrna GA 30080 with the Reverend Gef Ganey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until the service hour. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens in Rome at 4:30 P.M.
Pallbearers are Bennett Hall, Benji Hall, Doug Hall, James Payne, Charles Carver, and Roy Powell. Honorary pallbearers are her great nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 3130 Atlanta Road, Smyrna GA 30080.
