Margie Souder Obituary

Margie Jean (Lanier) Souder, age 77 of Wildwood Cove, Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed from this life to her eternal home on April 26, 2016.

Mrs. Souder was born on March 5, 1939, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She is the daughter of the late Harvey C. Lanier, Sr. and Verna Lanier Hughes. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Troy Harold Souder, an infant daughter, Tina Rene'e Souder, and brother, Harvey C. (Buddy) Lanier, Jr.

"Nanny" was her chosen name to all who loved her. With a degree in business, she held different jobs and ended her career at Cherokee County Health and Rehab as dietary supervisor in Centre, Alabama. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed working in her yard. Mrs. Souder lived most of her life in the Wildwood Cove area and was a member of Fair Haven Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Martin (Jackie) Souder and daughter Elisa (Todd) Waits all of Wildwood Cove. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Ty (Christy) Souder of Weaver, Alabama, Lindsey Souder of Wildwood Cove and Helena Waits of Dallas, Texas, and five great-grandchildren Nick, Sydney, Tiara, Cody and Tray. Mrs. Souder is also survived by a sister, Cheryl Hobbs of Temple, Georgia and an aunt Susan Simpson of Ellenwood, Georgia, special caregiver and friend, Tracy Oakes and "adopted" grandson, Gage Davis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Souder will be held Monday, May 2, 2016, in the chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. Kirby Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the service following. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Souder's grand children, great-grandchildren and two special young men, Luke Richardson and Gage Davis will honor Mrs. Souder as pallbearers.

Flowers are accepted, however, family request donations to Fair Haven Missionary Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 674 County Road 189, Cedar Bluff, Alabama 35959, in Mrs. Souder's memory.
