Otha Ray Obituary
Otha Lamar Ray, age 86 of Rome, GA., died on Monday, June 5th, 2017.
He was born in Cherokee County, Ala. the son of J.M. Ray and Leila Johnson Ray of Centre, Ala. He lived most of his life in Floyd County of Rome. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from GE, then pursued real estate, then was a court bailiff in Rome. He was a Deacon at West Rome Baptist Church, and was head usher for many years. He was very active in the church and involved in Outreach for the church. He was preceded in death by a wife, Jo Ann James Ray of Rome, a brother, Billy Ray, two sisters, Earlene Harper and Sara Ann Reed all of Centre, Ala..
He is survived by one brother, Henry Allen Ray of Centre, Ala, one son, Jimmy Ray of Hoboken, Ga., one daughter, Jan Callan of Rome, Ga. He had 6 grandchildren, Christy Ferguson, Scott Ray, Keith Callan, Sandy Wilbanks, Dustin Ray, and Katie Sims. He had 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, June 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Oates and Reverend Steve Glosson officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
