Ray Trussell Obituary
Ray L. Trussell, 84, of Rome died Wednesday evening, November 1, 2017 in a local hospital.
A native of DeKalb County, Alabama Mr. Trussell was born October 30, 1933 son of the late Daniel and Hattie Baker Trussell. He moved to Rome in 1970, and was associated with the Life of Virginia and State Mutual Insurance Companies. He later formed Trussell Insurance Agency. Mr. Trussell was energized by people and had a servant's heart. He was an active member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and was a deacon. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was preceded in death by his son Lindsey James Trussell October 1, 2017.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dobbs Trussell to whom he was married December 19, 1959; son Clay (Debbie) Trussell of Summerville, SC and daughter Seena (Bill) Croy of Lindale; Seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a sister Lucille (Lyman) Crumbley also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Reverend Roger Lanter officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 PM until the service hour.
