Mrs. Sheryll Lynn Cowan of Silver Creek passed away Sunday, February 4th in the comfort of her son's home.
Mrs. Cowan was born on October 23, 1946. She graduated from West Rome High School and also attended Shorter College before marrying the love of her life Gary M. Cowan. After marrying Gary, they both moved to Athens, Georgia so that Gary could finish his degree from the University of Georgia and become a pharmacist. Shortly after moving back to Rome, Gary and Sheryll began GMC Valu-Mart located in Coosa, Ga. Sheryll leaves this legacy and wonderful business behind but she loved coming to work each day at GMC until she could no longer work. She also loved watching her grandkids in their sports and spending time with them. She also had a group of dear friends in the Joy Class at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church that she loved spending time with also. Sheryll's hobbies included gardening and playing the piano and organ. She truly loved life.
Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her husband Gary M Cowan, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her mother Dot Williams and father Turner Williams.
She is survived by her son Kirk Cowan, daughter in law Hope Cowan, granddaughters, Anna and Ansley Cowan. Another son Shane Cowan and daughter in law, Cindy Cowan, and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Cowan
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 8th from 2 to 4 pm with memorial service to follow at 4 pm at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Sheryll loved flowers but she also loved her church and helping others through her church. In lieu of flowers, you may also send donations to Pleasant Valley South Church located at PO Box 519 Silver Creek, GA 30173.
