Wayne Riggins Obituary
Mr. Wayne Herman Riggins, age 75, of Rome passed away Saturday August 16, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Riggins was born August 17, 1938, in Floyd County, a son of the late Henry Herman Riggins, and Mary Hartzog Riggins. He was co-owner of Rome Tire Company along with his father. Mr. Riggins was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM. Yaarab Temple of Atlanta Shiners, and Rome Shrine Club. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, 317 Troop Trainer Squad in Evreury, France. Mr. Riggins enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was preceded in death by son Scotty Scarber, daughter, Teresa Rogers.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette Dugger Riggins, son, William Patrick ( Teresa) Scarber, Sr. Canton; daughter, Debra (Larry) Scarber Cone, Cave Spring; sister, Shirley (Jim) Kelly, Houston, TX; 9 grandchildren, 13, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday August 20, 2014 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Alan Fuller, officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens, with Shaklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion, conducting military graveside rites. The family will receive friend from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165, Rome, Ga.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Larry Cone, Jim Kelly, Phalen Riggins, Andrew Scarber, Patrick Scarber, Jake Miller, Daniel Smith, John Mackenize, and Darrin Haynes.
