Winford Hicks Obituary
Mr. Winford Clark Hicks, age 89, of Rome passed away Sunday March 1, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Hicks was born October 28, 1925, in Lindale, Ga. son of the late Grady L. Hicks, and Burnie Rowan Hicks. Mr.Hicks was of the Baptist Faith, served with the United States Navy during WWII on aboard the U.S.S. Chemung, numerous honors and metals, they include, American Area Camp Metal, European Camp Metal, African Camp Metal, Point System Metal, WWII Victory Metal. Mr. Hicks was retired from the Double Cola Bottling Company after 38 years of service. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Hicks.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Pauline Hicks, two sons, Kenneth (Starr) Hicks, Milner, Ga.; Wendell (Laura) Hicks, Cave Spring; daughters, Diane Hicks (Fiance' Johnny Yancey) Williams, Rome; Jeanice (Terry) Teems, Cedartown; brothers, John Hicks, Crystal Springs; Sherman (Lois) Hicks, Crystal Springs; Rowan (Tommie) Hicks, Gore; Jere (Dora) Hicks, Crystal Springs; grandchildren, Kim Smith, Chris Rittenhouse, Danny Rittenhouse, Eric Bennett, Jeff Teems, Brooke Hicks, Sawyer Hicks, Gibson Hicks, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday March 5, 2015 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Fleming, officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Loyad Carter, Mark Hicks, Wesley Hicks, Mike Hicks, Dennis Hicks, and Kyle Hicks.
Honorary pallbearers include, Chris Rittenhouse, Danny Rittenhouse, Eric Bennett, Sawyer Hicks, Gibson Hicks, and his friend of 78 years, Harry Battles.
