Mark Girolimon Obituary

Mark Anthony Girolimon

January 13, 1957 - March 6, 2024

Mark Anthony Girolimon, 67, of St. John, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, at his assisted living facility in Rome, Georgia, where he relocated to be closer to family.

He was born on January 13, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois. Mark attended Bloom Trail High School and later pursued higher education at Southern Illinois University, where he earned a degree in Computer Science in 1982. His career path started alongside his late uncle, Dante Girolimon Sr., who instilled in him a passion for architecture. He later joined Millies Engineering Group in 1991, where Mark dedicated over three decades of his life until his well-deserved retirement in 2023.

Mark's life legacy is characterized by selflessness, compassion, and kindness. He touched the lives of many with his unwavering generosity and genuine care for others.

In 2003, without hesitation, Mark supplied his late brother, Michael Girolimon, with a life-saving bone marrow transplant. After his father, Louis Girolimon, passed away, Mark became the sole caretaker for his mother, Sarah Girolimon (Keady). He was a devoted son and ensured her comfort and well-being until she transitioned to a nursing home in 2022. He cherished his role as an uncle to his niece, Kimberly Girolimon, and nephew, John Girolimon. Mark earned the title of the "world's best uncle" and played an instrumental role in shaping their lives. He was a constant source of love, guidance, and encouragement.

Mark's presence radiated warmth, and his actions conveyed a profound sense of empathy and love for others. Those who had the privilege of knowing Mark will cherish his memory, and his legacy will continue to inspire everyone touched by his life.

Mark is survived by his mother, Sarah Girolimon (Keady), niece Kimberly Girolimon, and nephew John Girolimon. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Girolimon, and brother, Michael Girolimon.
