In Loving Remembrance of Naaman Elijah Wood
December 13, 1931 – March 27, 2024
With a blend of sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Naaman Elijah Wood, aged 92, on March 27, 2024, in Taylorsville, Georgia. Born to Paul R. Wood and Annie Mary Potts Wood on December 13, 1931, in Cherokee County, Georgia, Naaman's journey was one of dedication, love, and music, leaving a lasting legacy.
In addition to his parents, Naaman was welcomed into eternity by his sisters Avis Riley and Pauline Pollard. Naaman was preceded by his first wife Annie Lee and second wife Margret into God’s Grace.
His cherished memory lives on through his devoted wife, Leah Fricks Wood; his loving sons, Naman “Jerry” Wood (Alisa) and Randall “Randy” Wood (Kathy); his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Wood (Elizabeth) and Jeremiah Wood; his treasured great-grandchildren, Evan, Madison, and Grant; and his adoring nieces and nephews, Batatsa, Teresa, Louise, Johnny, June, Norvle, Roland, Debra, Michael, Sheri, Bobby, Ricky and Malcolm.
A man of deep faith, Naaman was an active member of the Baptist community. His service to his country as a proud United States Marine Reserve veteran and his contribution as a Mason, including a term as president of the Taylorville Lodge, reflected his commitment to service.
Before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey, Naaman contributed significantly to the textile industry. His passion for electronics led him to open CB Sales & Services in Shannon, Georgia, a hub for radio and television enthusiasts.
Naaman's soul sang through his music, a testament to his love for string instruments. Whether it was the guitar, mandolin, banjo, or fiddle, he mastered these instruments and cherished the joy of collecting, buying, selling, and trading them. His music was a bridge to others, offering both comfort and joy.
Above all, Naaman was a beacon of love and dedication to his family. His commitment as a father was unparalleled. He shared with his children the joys of fishing and baseball and the invaluable lessons of life. He worked tirelessly, ensuring his family was provided for and surrounded by love and happiness.
