In Loving Memory of Frances Smith Drew
Sarah Frances Smith Drew, a remarkable woman of strength, resilience, and determination, passed away on March 5, 2024, at the age of 101. Frances was born to Calvin Smith and Mary Etta Burroughs Smith on February 12, 1923, in Carlton, Georgia
Sarah worked at J Smither Equipment Company in Atlanta, Georgia, where she excelled as an Office Manager. Her intelligence, and tenacity were a staple in her professional career.
Frances was married to her childhood friend, John, on June 27,1942. They were married for 65 years before his passing in 2008. They moved to Rome in 1993 to be near family. They made many new friends at Garden Lakes Baptist Church where Frances was a member for over 30 years.
She leaves behind her daughters, Carol and her husband Steve Lucas, and Ann and her husband Bob Tankersley. Her grandchildren, Stephanie Ramsey, Rebecca Oates, Loren Hammond, and Lydia Murray brought John and Frances boundless joy and cherished memories. She loved bragging about all her grandchildren and her 7 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly and of whom she was very proud.
Graveside will be held at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 12 noon with Pastors Priscilla Tunnell and Micah Pritchett and Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating. Friends are welcome to attend to support the family and honor the memory of Frances.
