Alvadine Buffington Obituary
Alvadine Bridges Buffington, age 77 of Rome, passed away peacefully at her home Friday night August 28, 2020 surrounded by her family. She fought valiantly for over 3 years to overcome Neurosarcoidosis. Visitation will be held on Monday August 31, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home from 6-8pm EDT. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2020 at Antioch Baptist Church at 2pm EDT. She will lie in state from 1pm until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral. The services will be officiated by Rev. Brian Butler, Keith Howell, and Scott Hays. Pallbearers will be grandsons and Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. The family asks that social distancing rules be followed but masks are optional according to your own preferences.
Mrs.Buffington was born on October 16, 1942 to Alvis E. Bridges and Mary Elizabeth Touchstone Bridges. She grew up in the Rosedale Community and graduated from Armuchee High School. She was a beautiful, vivacious lady who loved her family and friends immensely. She was a social butterfly who loved parties, gatherings, and really just anything where there would be food, company, and laughs galore. Her beautiful laugh was just unforgettable. She was retired from Benjamin F. Edwards. She loved her work family and the clients that she served. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and several uncles and aunts.
Mrs. Buffington is survived by her husband of 58 years, Leonard F. Buffington, whom she married on June 23, 1962; one daughter Lori (Scott) Hays; one son Jason (Christy) Buffington; grandsons Cody Hays, Caleb (Hope) Hays, Brantley Hays, and Paul Padgett; granddaughter Gracy Padgett; great grandchildren River Robinson and Callie Grace Hays; sister Jennifer (Gary) Wheeler; brothers J.W. (Elaine) Bridges and Kent Bridges; uncle Howard Touchstone; nieces and nephews, and cousins; Special thanks to Tapestry Hospice and her sitters that made her days brighter.
