Benny Jacobs Obituary
Benny Ladell "Jimmy" Jacobs, age 79, of Rome passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at a local hospital following a long illness.
A native of Rome, Mr. Jacobs was born April 13, 1936 son of the late Reverend Dave Jacobs and Ruby Hitchcock Jacobs. Mr. Jacobs was employed with Anchor Rome and Celanese, and retired as a foreman with Georgia Kraft after 37 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching sports. Mr. Jacobs was a member of Liberty View Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent. He was a hard worker who loved his family and church. Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by a brother Willie Jacobs and two sisters Louise Wise and Euvine Hand.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda LeSuer Jacobs; two children Greg (Dawn) Jacobs of Gainesville and Lisa (David) Guest of Silver Creek; four grandchildren Whitney(Owen) Kelly, Zachary Jacobs, Courtney (Will) Pinson, and Jacob Guest; Greatgrandchildren Hudson Kelly, Blaine Jacobs, Britton Pinson, and Bennett Pinson; A brother Don (Carol) Jacobs and sister Mary Teems of Rome also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with his cousin Reverend Ladell Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 PM until the service hour.
