Bertha Ozment Obituary

Bertha Mae Oliver Ozment, 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 31st at her home. She was born on May 27, 1931 in Vina, Franklin County, Alabama but had spent most of her life in Rome & Floyd County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Katie Taylor Oliver and by a son, Sammy Smith. She was married on November 14, 1968 to Lon V (LV) Ozment who survives. Ms. Ozment worked for many years as an LPN at Floyd Medical Center, Fifth Avenue Health Care and Chulio Health Care. She loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens and was a wonderful cook hosting many family dinners. She enjoyed entertaining family and the friends of her children & grandchildren. Mrs. Ozment was a member of Beech Creek UMC.
Survivors include her sons Chris (Laura) Ozment and Dale Smith, both of Rome and daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith. Her sister Elizabeth (Tom) Wooten of Rome and brother Tommy (Nell) Oliver of Centre, Al; A special cousin, Faye Holland of Red Bay, AL. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Andrew (Allyson) Smith, Adairsville, Paige (Brandon) Burke, Mitchell Smith, Adam (Alison) Smith, Kendall Smith, Jennifer Ozment and Sarah Ozment all of Rome and Courtney (Chris) Waites, Kingston. Great-grandchildren Emma, Carly, Quin, Ryan, Ella, Connor, Georgia, Reagan, Drew &Emalyn. Special nieces, Donna, Pam, Kim, Karen, Kelli &Keliaand brothers-in-law Floyd (Mary) Ozment. Robert Ozment and sister-in-law Geraldine Turner.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 3rd at 4pm at Beech Creek UMC with Rev. Bobby Stephens and Dr. David McKenzie officiating Interment will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm at the church before the service. Pallbearers are: Andy Smith, Mitchell Smith, Adam Smith, Brandon Burke, Reginald Ozment, Jason Morrow, Josh Morrow, Bobby Edmondson, Steve Walden, David Gotterer,& James Maner. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Beech Creek UMC or Lutheran Services of Georgia.
The family would like to thank hospice and Mrs. Ozment's caregivers Cheryl, Marie, Jaime, Cheyenne and others who loved and cared for our mother.
