Betty Penson Obituary
Mrs. Betty L. Penson, age 80, of Adairsville, passed away on, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Penson was born on August 4, 1934, in Swanee, Georgia, to the late Herbert Sexton and Estelle Kinsey Sexton. She had the heart of a servant, loved to make Pound Cake, and always prayed for and put others before herself. She served as the church secretary and treasurer for Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for several years. She had a love for children, putting in countless hours working on Vacation Bible School activities, but nothing compared to the love she had for her grandchildren. Mrs. Penson was a loving mother, a lover of crafts and loved to help decorate the city of Adairsville with bows for special holidays. Mrs. Penson is preceded in death by her husband, Mayor Doyal Ellis Penson- whom referred to her as his "First Lady", daughter Cynthia Lee Penson, brothers; H.E. Sexton and Paul (Alice) Sexton, and a great niece, Kelsey Ely.
Survivors include; two daughters, Vickie (Hank) Millsaps, Melinda (Joe) Meeks, a niece and special caregiver Lisa Williams, grandchildren; Seth and Jordan Millsaps, Zachary and Tyler Llewallyn, Casey and Taylor Meeks, God-Daughter, Heather Fisher Williams, one brother, Robert (Fonda) Sexton; nieces and nephews, Leslie and Belinda Sexton, Jerry and Donna Sexton, Cam and Mark Coffman, Deborah and Jesse Williams; special friends Glenn and Cora Flemings, Doyle and Ann Fisher, and Matthew and Nadeen Light and her little fur baby, Lady the Poodle.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty L. Penson will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, July 24, 2015, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Kingston, with Rev.'s Stephen Streett and Jerry Branton officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
The family is accepting flowers or donations can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; SPC Henry Seth Millsaps of Ft. Riley Kansas, Jordan Millsaps; Crandall, Ga; Zachary Llewallyn; Charleston, South Carolina, Tyler Llewallyn; Pensacola, Florida, Brent Fulton; Marrietta, and Keith Llewallyn.
