Billy Joe Noles, age 90, of Rome, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Noles was born in Birmingham, Alabama, November 11, 1925. He was the son of James Arthur Noles and the late Bertha Beatrice Morris of Floyd County, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Vivian Noles in April 2015. In June of 2015 they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include one son, Kerry Noles, and his wife, Gloria.
Four grandchildren: Tricia McKinney, (Ken) (Tennessee), Lori Lacy, (David) (Alabama), Chris Perry, (Lynn) (Armuchee), Susan Perry, (Sami) (Adairsville), and 11 great grandchildren.
Mr. Noles loved his Lord, his Bible, and his family. He enjoyed baseball. He looked forward to each vacation at the lake, the beach, or the mountains.
He served as a deacon for many years at Flint Hill Baptist Church. He was also a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.
He served in World War II as a Navy Seaman. He was in communications serving our country. He retired from the telephone company after almost 40 years. He had various positions. He was a pole climber, installer, and assignment desk clerk.
After retiring, he was a vital part of the family ham and sandwich business for 18 years. The business was located in West Towne Square. He enjoyed meeting and serving others. He was greatly loved and will be missed as will the others who have gone before.
The family would like to express a special thanks to all the caregivers and nurses along with the many others who cared for Mr. and Mrs. Noles in the past few years. Thank you and we love you all at Riverwood Senior Living.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Monday March 28, 2016 and the celebration of life will be at 3:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Rev. Scott Lambert and Rev. Wayne Lester will have charge of the service. Intement will follow in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion.
Pallbearers will be grand children and great grand children along with Craig Willis, Alan Dean, Lance Ely, and Franklin Roberson.
