Brooks Samuel Thrasher

July 9, 1933 - May 10, 2022

Brooks Samuel Thrasher, age 88, passed away yesterday evening, 10th of May, 2022. He was born to the late John Marvin and Clara (Hilliard) Thrasher Godwin in 1933. He is predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Joyce Jane McCallister Thrasher, his daughter, Carin Joy Thrasher Bowman, his brother, James Thrasher, and his sister, Sallie Mae Denman. Brooks was a devoted Christian and family man. He is much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He proudly served his country in the US Army and retired from Inland Paper Mill in 1995. He and his wife were long time members of Mount Alto Baptist Church. They lived a very full life and loved to travel and camp. Brooks is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Connie Marie and Phil Hart of Aragon, GA; his son and daughter-in-law, David Brooks and Kristina Lindsey Thrasher of Rome, GA; his son-in-law, Phillip Bowman of Dawsonville, GA; his sister, Frances Johnson of Cedartown, GA; his grandson, Jacob Thrasher (Stephanie Hughs Thrasher) of Rome, GA; his grandson, Tanner Bowman of Demorest, GA; his grandson, Jordan Thrasher (Maggie Willerson Thrasher) of Lindale, GA; and 3 great grandchildren (Clara, Elijah, and Lucy). Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday May 13, 2022 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service hour on Friday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome GA. 30165. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the entire caring staff of Seven Hills Place (Michelle, Missy, Audrey, Tiara, Kaitlyn, Michaela, Latoya, Rebecca and LaShonda) and Assured Hospice ( Brian, Crystal, and Lindsay ) We'd also like to express our great appreciation to all the "Helpers" who made it possible for Brooks to stay at home a little longer. Thank you, Debby, Jackson, Sheila, Karen, Jeanette, Ava and Melissa. To everyone who have touched and blessed our lives during this difficult time thank you so much, and please forgive the oversight if you're not mentioned herein.
