Cathy Blakley Obituary
Cathy Jean Blakley, 66, passed away October 7, 2020 lovingly surrounded by her family in Rome, GA. She was born to James and Martha Morris on July 29, 1954 in Copperhill, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Blakley whom she married on January 24, 1975, her brother Edward Morris, and her parents.
She is survived by a large and adoring family. This includes her children and their spouses, Diyanne (Damon) Crete, and James (Crystal) Blakley. Also, her grandchildren, Austin Blakley, Brittany Shaw, Bradley Langston, and Ariel Driver. The lights of her life are her great grandchildren: Wyatt, Waylon, Emily, and Havon. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was a member of West Rome United Methodist Church and was very involved with volunteering. She served with their Crisis Ministry, Food Pantry, Cancer Navigators, fundraising through Church yard sales, and donating her famous pecan pies for auctions. She especially loved working in the Nursery with the little ones.
Services will be at Good Shepherd Funeral Home at 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome, GA. Family will be receiving friends and loved ones on Friday, October 9 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 10 at 11 am with Rev. Les Connell and Rev. Mark McLendon officiating. Interment will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery at 2972 Alabama Hwy, Rome, GA. Pallbearers are Randy Bird, Michael Blakley, Bill Connor, Jason Jennings,Ty Nguyen, GaryEly and Kevin Utley.
