Donnie Trammell Obituary

Donnie Mae Hawkins Trammell age 94 died September 7, 2015, after a long and fruitful life. She was born in Centre, Alabama November 13, 1920, the youngest of (5) children, (Alton and Toy Hawkins, Audie Bruce and Loie Bishop) to Charlie and Elizabeth Snead Hawkins. She grew up in the Centre, Alabama area and married the love of her life Luther Samuel Trammell, who preceded her in death January 9, 1983. They were married 39 years and were the parents of four daughters. Mary Carol Trammell Barton (Kenneth Deceased), Linda McDermont (Donald), Joy Dale Burton Lumpkin (Jerry), and Margo Atchley Deceased (Wayne). Donnie Mae is survived by eight grandchildren, Bryce Barton Scales (Greg) of Asheville, North Carolina, Robert Kenneth Barton, Jr. (Dennisse) of Peachtree City, Ga., Eddie McDermont (Debbie), Samantha Burton Roland (Kevin), Ashley McDermont Bing (Donald), Brennan Atchley Greene (Chris), Wayne "Chip "Atchley, Jr. (Torrey), all of Rome, Ga. and Blair Lumpkin Cronic (Duane), of Ball Ground, Ga. She was preceded in death by a great grandson Bauer Greene and survived by 10 great grandchildren, Allie & Alex McDermont, McCallie& Maggie Bing, Elizabeth Williams, Harrison & Vanessa Roland, Seth, Daxton & Blaine Cronic, and Jace Atchely.



Donnie Mae and Luther moved to Rome, Ga. in the early forties, where he started a successful welding business. Donnie and Luther were partners in all that they did and shared many happy memories with their family. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She kept books for their business and in later years she enjoyed traveling extensively.



Donne was a member of North Broad Baptist Church and at her death was a resident of Brookdale Senior Living. While saddened by Donnie's physical absence, her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is present with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family wants to express their appreciation to the Brookdale Senior Living caretakers and staff. Hyman Hospice Care and a special thanks to Jackie Stamey, Ida Ransey, and Earlene Starr for their exceptional loving care.



Funeral services will be held at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home at 4pm, Thursday, September 10, 2015 with visitation 1 hour before the service.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens.
