Dora Haney Obituary

Dora Elizabeth Moss Haney of a Rome address transitioned to her heavenly home on 17 September 2020. Born March 6, 1933 to Jack Moss and Lottie Mae Wofford, she was the last surviving sibling of her family. She married Gordon Lee Haney (deceased) on 14 July 1951 and is survived by their 6 children, Eric (Dianna), Iris Haney (Rick Garrett), Penny Treglown(Dale), Lowell (Theresa), Mollie Haney and Ben Haney, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Haney was a member of the Lindale Church of God but many remember her from her 25 years as a salesclerk at Rome Bible Bookstore on Broad Street in Rome, where she was employed until the store closed. She was known to say that the owner, Pastor James Black, had to close the store to get her to retire as she had no plans to do so. That store was her mission field and she served faithfully. The family had a private graveside service at the Reeves-Anderson Family Cemetery in Polk County on 21 September 2020. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sweet Cocoon, a local charity started by Dora's granddaughter, Amanda Treglown Bohannon upon the loss of her special needs daughter, Marlowe Elizabeth Treglown, Mrs. Haney's firstborn great grandchild who passed away at the age of 18 from a rare storage disease (San Filipo). This charity was founded to provide a home of respite for entire families that have a special needs child. The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to Nicole Jordan, Dora and Gordon's nurse from Transitions Hospice who became the newest member of the family as she guided the family through difficult days with grace, skill and love.
