Eloise Elizabeth Spears Douglas, age 89, of Rome passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 in a local hospital .
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Douglas was born January 29, 1926 daughter of the late Edgar Paul Fowler and Bessie White Fowler. She had been a resident of Rome most of her life and was a member of the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. She loved life, travel, gardening, and outside work. Mrs. Douglas worked with her late husband, Lamar Spears at Rome Glass Company. Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her brothers Herbert and Lamar Fowler.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Douglas, of Rome; son Bob Poole of Gatlinburg, TN; daughter Diane Talley of Rome; Stepson Bill Franklin Douglas III of Rome; grandchildren Kimberly Mercier of Aix en provence, France and Kirby Keith of Woodstock. Four great grandchildren Sophie and Sylvia Mercier and Liam and Kennedy Keith also survive.
Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday at Floyd Memory Gardens with Reverend Billy Fricks officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 until 1 :30 PM. at Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue, Rome GA.
