Mrs. Emma Nora Jones Shellnut, age 93 of Shannon, passed away Thursday July 28, 2016, in local hospital.
Mrs. Shellnut was born February 8, 1923, in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Will Jones, and Willie Mae Sharp Jones. She was a member of Shannon First Baptist Church. Mrs. Shellnut loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she loved reading, sewing, traveling, the outdoors, and watching the birds. Mrs. Shellnut was preceded in death by her husband James W. Shellnut, brothers, Jim, and Neal Jones.
Survivors include, daughters and son in laws, Karen and Charles Patterson, Rome; Marie and Jim Grissett, Armuchee; sister, Annie Ruth Jones, Calhoun; Paige Chaffin, Chad Ely, Amy Haywood, and Kirk Grissett, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, August 1, 2016, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Stephens, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until the funeral hour on Monday, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Pallbearers include the following gentlemen, Hunter Grissett, Kirk Grissett, Adam Haygood, Chad Ely, Wes Chaffin, and Mack Godfrey.
