Fernando Ambeiz Obituary

Fernando Guzman Ambriz, 18, of Rome died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.

Fernando was born in Rome February 3, 1999. He was a 2017 graduate of Coosa High School where he was very active . Fernando was always happy and a fighter who made you smile and feel special. A very independent spirit, he was an avid soccer and football player before his illness, and a die hard supporter afterwards. His favorite teams were the Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs, and the Coosa Eagles. Fernando always said "the Coosa community is and always will be my family." With his positive attitude and friendly, generous spirit, Fernando was inspirational to everyone he met. He loved his brothers and wanted to provide only the best for them. His hope was to become either an oncologist or a counselor working with cancer patients. Fernando was the recipient of the Rome Exchange Club "Life Hero" award, the Coosa High School Golden Eagle award, and was the CHS Prom King, He had met and was inspired by "The Rock". He lived by this statement: "I am always ready for a challenge." And he spent many years proving this was true.

Survivors include his brothers Usvaldo, Ismael, and Gustavo Gomez Ambriz, and Alex and Angel; his godparents Maria and Lupe Sanchez, all of Rome; parents Guadalupe and Sylvia Guzman; his very special friend and companion Carly Comer and other special friends Casey and Tammy Willamon, Charmin Putnam, Laney Crews, Lila Culberson, Sherry Agan, and Sergio Medina. He also leaves countless other friends.

A Celebration of Fernando's life and legacy will be conducted at 4 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at the West Rome Baptist Church. Everyone is asked to wear red and black. In lieu of flowers, please support Fernando's wish to help other students who face the challenges he did by making contributions to Fernando's Warrior Award, in care of Coosa High School, 4454 Alabama Highway, Rome GA 30165. Fernando established this scholarship and personally selected the first two recipients. It is awarded to a Coosa High School senior "who overcame challenges with a smile on their face" to advance their education.
