Mr. George William "Bill" Hanks, age 87, of Cedar Bluff, the Farill Community, passed away Saturday February 14, 2015 in a Rome Medical Center.
Mr. Hanks was born June 22, 1927, in Cherokee County Alabama a son of the late, Grover Hanks, and Edna McCormick Hanks. He was of the Baptist Faith, and retired from City of Rome Street Department. Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by his brothers, Dave and John Hanks.
Survivors include his, wife Tressie Messer Hanks, daughters, Juanita (Steve) Hunter, Gaylesville; Pat (Bruce) Colby, Cedar Bluff; Brenda (Mack) Lewis, Cedar Bluff, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services will be held at12:00 P.M. (Ga. Time) on Wednesday February 18, 2015, at Hardeman Cemetery in Farill. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. (Ga. Time) on Tuesday February 17, 2015 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, GA. 30165.
