Geraldine Ruth Brackett “Gerrye” Floyd, age 89, of Rome passed away Sunday December 5, 2021. Gerrye was born on June 10, 1932 in Floyd County GA., to the late WC Brackett and Eula Cox Brackett. Gerrye was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church. She graduated from Rome Girls High School in 1949. She loved to take rides and enjoyed trying different restaurants. Gerrye worked at Revco, Cvs, Gala Shopping Center. She never met a stranger and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children: Otis Lee Floyd, Judy Marzie Floyd; siblings: Winston Brackett, Daryl Brackett, Donzia Wright, Mardene Williams. Survivors include her husband to whom she married July 10, 1955: Melvin H. Floyd; children: Ronald Leslie (Debbie) Floyd; grandchildren: Megan Oakes, Corey Oakes, Paife Davis, and Jess Davis; great grandson: Caleb James Oakes. Funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday December 8, 2021 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Dudley officiating. Graveside will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday December 9, 2021 at East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until service hour on Wednesday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave, Rome GA. 30165. Pallbearers include the following gentlemen: Wayne Williams, Steve Williams, Mike Williams, Ken Cornilison, Henry Cox, and Todd Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pisgah Baptist Church. Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
