Mr. Jimmy William Thacker, age 78 of Rome passed away Monday April 29, 2019 in a local hospital.
Mr. Thacker was born July 23, 1940 in Floyd County a son of the late Marion Thacker, and Georgie Mae Abernathy Thacker. He was a member of North Rome Church of God, and was employed by General Tire and Firestone and retired from Floyd County School System. Mr. Thacker was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Felicia Carter Thacker, son in law, Billy Huskey, brother, Melvin Thacker, sister Betty Grizzard.
Survivors include, Children, Kathy Thacker, Rome; Tony (Lori) Thacker, Cedartown; Michele Huskey, Gatlinburg, TN; brothers, Clyde (Ann) Thacker, Nathan (Gloria) Thacker, sisters, Kathleen Thacker, Vickie (Glenn) Nicholson, Rita (Skip) Mize, Lillian Maxwell, Evelyn Bridges, Grandchildren, A.J. (Hollie) Thacker, Anthony (Racheal) Thacker, Brooke (Ken) Thacker, Hunter Thacker, Christy (Bleu) Allen, Billy Lee (Jenn) Huskey, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday May 1, 2019 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mark Turner, and Rev. Bert Brooks, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour on Wednesday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
