Kathleen "Kathy" Mariam Hicks, age 88, of Cedartown, Ga. passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 in a local memory care facility.
Kath was born October 26, 1928, in Key West, FL. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rome, GA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years George R. Hicks, on October 19, 2015.
Kathy was a graduate of the Merle Norman Beauty School in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. She worked as a manicurist for 8 years. After her time with Merle Norman she became a stay-at-Home mother. She enjoyed her family, spoiling grandchildren/great grandchildren, friends, traveling, Atlanta Braves Baseball hosting family gatherings, and she never met a stranger.
Survivors include her two children, son Gary Hicks, of Montgomery, AL; and daughter, Theresa (Tere) Williams, of Cedartown, Ga.; grandchildren, Kellie (Mike) Hardy, of Pace, Florida; Ryan Hicks of Montgomery, Al; Greg Hicks (Jessica) of Montgomery, Al; Jamie Brynteson,(Matt) of Cedartown, GA; great grandchildren, Reed and Judd Hardy, of Pace, Fl; Alex and Connor Hicks, of Montgomery, Al; and Piper Kathleen Brynteson, of Cedartown, Ga.; sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Gomez of Key West, Fl; she was preceded in death by her sister, and brother, Betty Johnson from Hollywood, Fl; Charles Smith, from Hollywood, Fl; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, also survive.
A private family entombment will be held the St. John Mausoleum in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. with Father Timothy of St. Bernadettes officiating.
Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165 has charge of arrangements.
