Kermit Roberson Obituary
Kermit Glee Roberson, age 98, of Rome passed away Friday afternoon, October 2, 2015 in a local healthcare facility.
Mr. Roberson was born in Murphy, NC December 23, 1916, son of the late Charley Ezral Roberson and Mary Salena Sales Roberson. He had been a resident of Rome most of his life and prior to retirement was employed by the Celanese Corporation and West Point Pepperell. He was an active member of Pisgah, Fellowship, and most recently, Garden Lakes Baptist Churches where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. He loved Braves baseball and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Roberson was able to fix anything around the house and grow a fantastic garden. He was a veteran and was preceded in death by his wife Martha Elizabeth Cronan Roberson on February 18, 2013, a grandson Chris Couch, brother and sisters Jim Roberson, Madeline Rucker, Judy Proctor, Gertrude Wade, Bobbie Nell Knight, and Tommy Jean Roberson.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law James and Barbara Roberson of Rome; daughter Ann Elizabeth Swann of Albany; grandchildren Kathie Perry, Steve and Scott Roberson, Michelle Couch, Tonya Pitts, Jeremy May, Jeff May, and Melanie Land. Fourteen great grandchildren along with brothersNick, Charles, and Ray Roberson and sisters Patricia Studdard, Ozelle Edwards, Linda Kowloc, and Katy Hicks also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 3 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Garden Lakes Baptist Church Choir, 2200 Redmond Circle, Rome, GA 30165.
