.Marshall E. "Bluejay" Pierce, age 79, of the Coosa Community passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016.



A native of Shannon, Mr. Pierce was born July 28, 1936 son of the late Lacy Gertrude Barnes Pierce and Marshall Pierce. He was the last survivor of ten siblings, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was employed as an industrial maintenance person at Bekaert. He had been a devoted caregiver to his wife, Rosa Lee Justice Pierce until her death in 2006. Mr. Pierce enjoyed fishing, was a member of Cherokee Lodge #66 f & AM and the Cornerstone Church.



Survivors include his son Ricky Pierce(Misty Gunter), Tracey Stephens (Ed) Samantha Abigail Shockley, Chris Couzzort, Seth and Harrison Gunter. Sisters in law JoAnn Shaw and Mary Justice. Brothers in law Bobby Shaw, Carlton Eugene Justice, Lloyd "Sonny" Justice, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, along with several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3 PM Wednesday, April 27 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue Rome. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Graveside rites performed by the Honor Guard of the Shanklin Attaway Post 5 American Legion and Cherokee Lodge #66 F& AM. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM.



There will be a Called Communication of the Cherokee Lodge at 2 PM Wednesday for the purpose of attending the funeral.
