Mary Burry Obituary

Mary Amanda Burry (Lee) Well known as Mandy 76 years old formerly of Rome Georgia passed away in Kingston Georgia on February 27, 2016 surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Portland Indiana on June 20, 1939. She was the daughter of William and Helen Lee (Sisk). Mary's siblings are Roger Lee, Marion Campbell (Lee), Linda Hicks (Lee), Steve Lee, Jeff Lee, Brenda Morgan (Lee), Penny Lee, Terry Lee, Dave Lee and Mark Lee.

Mary spent many wonderful fun-filled childhood days in the charming lakeside community of Bear Lake Indiana. She met her spouse Elmer Burry in Portland at a local soda shop and they were married at her beloved Bear Lake on June 2, 1958. Mary and Elmer moved to Dunkirk Indiana and had five children. First born Richard Burry died shortly after birth. Mary and Elmer and the children then moved to Bluffton Indiana. Mary cared for Elmer with an illness for over eight years. Elmer passed away on January 1, 1974 with Mary by his side. Mary continued to provide for her family as a single mom and worked at Copper Nursing Home and the Caylor Nickel Clinic in Bluffton Indiana. Mary also spent her life providing care for her 2nd born son, Randy Burry who is Intellectually Disabled. Mary and her children later moved to Snyder, Texas and then she moved to Rome Georgia and spent the remainder of her life with all her children. Mary had a vibrant personality and wonderful humorous side.

Mary is survived by her children David Burry of Chattanooga TN and his spouse John Wynne. Randy Burry of Kingston GA. Pamela Pledger (Burry) and her spouse Dale Pledger of Kingston GA. Loretta Brock (Burry) and her spouse Randy Brock of Adairsville GA. Grandchildren Brandie Dewey of Cartersville and her spouse Dean Dewey. Jessica Dowdy of Rome and her spouse Gary Dowdy. Michael Wynneof Chattanooga and his spouse Trish Wynne and eight great grandchildrenKatelyn and her spouse Francisco, Shelby, Destiny, Tyler, Trent, Kaylee, Cody, Pyper, Odin and two great-great grandchildren Aubrey and Sophia.

Mary was proceeded in death by her husband Elmer Burry on January 1, 1974. Siblings Jeff Lee. Roger Lee. Steve Lee. Marion Campbell (Lee). Linda Hicks (Lee). Her father William Lee and her mother Helen Cummings.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday March 1, 2016, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Alan Fuller, officiating. The family will receiver friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday February 29, 2016 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
