Michael Roy "Shad" Shadrick, age59, of Waco and formerly of Rome, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 in a local hospital.
A native of Rome, Shad was born April 3, 1955 son of the late William W. Shadrick and Joann O'Dillon Shadrick. He was a 1973 graduate of Model High School, attended Coosa Valley Tech, and was a certified Harley-Davidson technician. Shad worked in the maintenance department at Galey and Lord and was also employed with Harley-Davidson of Cartersville. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps. Shad will be remembered as the "true epitomy of the one percenter of the motorcycle clan. He rode 24/7 365, and loved new cities, especially Nashville. He loved music. Shad was a free spirit and had no allegiance to anyone's colors. "He had his own laugh."
Survivors include his sons Billy Shadrick and Timothy Shannon: girlfriend Carolyn Sipes; granddaughter Christa Shannon and sister Debra Shadrick Smith. Many cousins,nieces, and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, January 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Reverend Haywood Clark officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 A.M. until the service hour. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedartown with the Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5, American Legion rendering military honors. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:David and Myron Farmer, Chip DeYoung, Conley Womack, and Wes Black.
