Mildred Ruth Odom Lewis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mildred Ruth Odom Lewis, age 100, of Rome passed away Monday April 11, 2022 Mildred was born August 4,1921 in Cherokee Co Alabama, the daughter of W.O. Odom and Retta Leona Payne. Mrs. Lewis moved to Rome at six years of age. She worked for 16 years in the Coosa School District as a kitchen helper and custodian. After having to leave work due to coming down with an illness, she took on the role as caretaker for her husband Howard until he passed in 1987. She was an avid crotchetier, quilter and loved to teach her grandchildren how to as well. She also was a self-taught piano player. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, husband, parents, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves behind Howard Dulane Lewis, Louise (Clark) Carpenter, Janie (Clinton) Green, James Paul (Brenda) Lewis. Also, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday April 15, 2022 at Community Chapel Church Cemetery, with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday at the graveside. In lieu of flowers they asked to make donations to the Community Chapel Graveyard fund. Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
