Philip Nichols Camp finished his final race on September 10, 2020. He was born August 3, 1957 in Rome, Ga. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Robert McKee Camp and Juanita Nichols Camp, and his granddaughter, Gabriella Ann "Ella" Camp. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He attended West Rome High School, and raced motocross and drag bikes for a number of years which gave him his nickname of "Fast Phil". Before he was disabled, he worked for many years at Brownlow Trucking as a welder. People were always asking him to work on or diagnose their motorcycle problems. One things about it, if it had two wheels, Phil could ride it, many times on the back wheel.
He is survived by his former wife and constant companion, Michelle Alexander Camp, two sons, Ryan (Kayce) Camp, Jonathan (Kayla) Camp, and a daughter, Hailie (Austin) Payne. He is also survived by his pride and joy grandsons, Collin Camp, Mason Camp, and Axel Payne. He will be remembered for many things, but one of his most proud accomplishments is getting sober. The family wishes to thank the staff at Graces House Two and Pruitt Hospice for his excellent care. Phil also knew he wouldn't be able to vote in November, so he wanted everyone to vote Trump 2020!
A visitation and memorial service will be held at 2561 Shorter Avenue Rome, Ga on Tuesday September 15 from 4pm til 630. All friends and family are invited to share your memories.
Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. Events Details are pending.
