Ralph Branton Obituary
Ralph Victor Branton, age 87, of Rome, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Mr. Branton was born in Kingston, Bartow County, Georgia, on February 10, 1930, son of late Arthur Lee Branton and Carrie Bell Satcher Branton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ponder Branton, on December 4, 2010. Additionally, Mr. Branton was preceded in death by siblings, Thelma Turner, Addie Moore, Ethel Taylor, Evelyn Bridges, Otis Branton, William Branton, Louis Branton, Eugene Branton; and daughter in law Tina Branton.
Ralph was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church. He spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired from Georgia Kraft after 35 years of service. Ralph had a passion for gardening, fishing, western books and eating ice cream with his grandchildren.
Survivors include sons, Rodney (Lenie) Branton, Orange Park, Florida, Gary (Michelle) Branton, Rome, Ricky Branton, Lindale; eight grandchildren Rodney Vic (Amanda) Branton, Sheena (Jeff) Nichols, Patrick Branton, Rachel Branton, Parker Branton, Sam Branton, Kurk Branton and Amie Branton; five great-grandchildren, Kevin Nichols, Chase Nichols, Ryan Branton, Abrianna Branton, and Karson Michelle Branton; and one brother, Joe Branton, Kingston; also survives.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will include Eddie Branton, David Branton, Chris Padgett, Ricky Cagle, Billy Turner, Michael Branton, Phillip Branton, and Nicholas Wade.
Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor of the American Legion will conduct full military graveside rites.
